Before the Storm... (Pre - 6.21.11 "Off The Grid" Recap)

Welcome back!

I haven't posted in a while because with the EP right around the corner it's been a busy couple weeks! Where do we begin? Let's go back to the weekend with the one and only Goldie. It started with Electric Daisy Carnival Orlando! Even though we weren't scheduled to play until 1130p I decided to get there early to check out all the squad I hadn't seen in a while (or at least not all in the same place at one time). The Florida sun was still up while bottles of Stella were being passed to the sounds of Kastle puttin' it down! Respect to the early crew ruckus of Hive, Ak1200, 12th pleezy, K Gamble, Danny Johnson and Fofo 13. You know that's trouble and the unit was only half power.
After all of us going to another stage to check out Klever (add 'em up) we noticed the storm brewing... literally. A monsoon fully equipped with lightning hit out of nowhere and shut things down for about an hour. You can tell Orlando is used to these things as they chanted to keep the music on. After the storm passed and we were done acting like psychos to pass the time, we went back to the Bass Pod to see Craze. Add Hot Pink Delorean then Goldie to the mix and you've got a perfect Molotov Cocktail. We all made the best of what the storm left us with before hopping over to the after-party for the first of my two day dosing of Skrillex. Hijinx ensue, yada yada yada, I head to bed and prepare for an early flight with a hangover.

Day 2 was all about Movement (formally known as the Detroit Electronic Music Festival) and although we went from hot and rainy to cold and rainy (I'm still sick), Detroit was going off like it was the nicest day out ever! The Red Bull tent was the best place to be and I LOVE a festival time slot while the sun is setting. Goldie was on the top of his game while taking everyone on a musical journey the way only he can. Legend. The Detroit Headz were in the building with a sick sik siik vibe! Not only the highlight of the weekend but a show for the books as far as I'm concerned. Thank you Rock City, you guys murk!

After Goldie murdered the place, Skrillex absolutely burned it to down to leave no evidence. In my opinion, that kid is special in a way you have to see live to really get. The night was far from over, however, as it was time to head over to the SMOG after-party. Big up Sinnistar and Sis for the ride to go see family. We walked in to 12th Planet bangin' out as he always does before Skrillex hops on with him for a little bit. It's so great to see good people get the love they deserve from the hard work they put in. I'll put some vids up in that section... good times. All the crew was there and I finally met Trowa! I know I know, we just finshed our fifth tune together (more on that in a minute) and this was the first we've ever met in person. Ah, the power of the internet.

Day 3 was back in DC for a Sunday night clubber for Dom of 3D Productions. It was a great ending to a weekend hitting the smaller, intimate club crowd that allowed Goldie to hit the deeper side of his musical palette. These are the nights I do more listening than emceeing. Good times all the way up to late night pizza with Rudi (@TooRude215 lol) and the poor homie that took us there. Fun weekend that's fasho!

Came back to a short work week to finish out some collabs like the two I did with Trowa, to be released on their "Nightfire EP" with Play Me Records in the next week or so. One is the tearout Drumstep (or whatever you wanna call it) title track "Nightfire" while the other is a spacey Moombahton banger entitled "Headhunter". These kids are on it and not just because I work with them. You need to check out the rest as I think "Boochie Boochie Bango" is on another level!

Also, the homie Kastle has released his "Time Traveler's EP (click to download)" which is another project I think needs heavy attention. I was lucky enough to lay lyrics on a sure summer jam "Walking Away", which also features beautiful vocals from the wonderful DJ Domonique. Kastle is killin' it so be on the lookout, if you don't know already. While you're at it, here is a sneak peek at something new we did: "Lil More Luv" _Kastle feat Armanni Reign

Then B00M! Mr. Atlantic Connection drops this brilliant multi-genre gem like a clumsy jewel thief! The "HYPEM EP (click to download)" is a four track level of cool you would expect from the head of Westbay Music Group. I'm featured on two tracks, the electro jumper "Hypem" and a hip hop F.O.S. banger "Need to Know". This first installment for MTV and Extreme Music's partnership in the Hype Music Project is the perfect ear candy while he works on his full length album! Got get it and stay tuned because we have so much more comin' at you!

So, there ya go! Don't forget (I'll remind you) my "Off the Grid EP" is coming out next Tuesday 6.21.11!!!! Tell a friend! I saw that "Breathe Back" was the video choice so we're gonna start mapping that out! Thanks for the votes! Check back with me for all the info you need! I'll be updating tour dates soon and also speak about the collabs currently in the kitchen. Here's some hint's: Endboss, Mark Instinct, Total Recall, The Upbeats, Dave Gee & Trigon feat MC Diggadee... and we haven't even't talked about Starscape. Next time.

Remember:  Focus Ova Swag. It's not a choice, it's math.
